Below are articles that are helpful or informative or just plain interesting. The first one is, frankly, one of the inspirations for this site in the first place. Please send other suggested reading to josh@allornotatall.org.

WHY WE LOST PROP 8
This article, along with some inspiration from friends helped plant the seeds that grew into ALLorNotAtAll:Â Paul Hogarth on Why We Lost Prop 8: When Reactive Politics Becomes Losing Politics
“DON’T SAY ‘GAY’”
Here is another article that has inspired us and will help shape how we move forward. (Thank you, Brett Ryback, for this one): Andrew Sullivan in The Daily Dish from The Atlantic – “No on 8: Don’t Say ‘Gay’”
THE ANGRY RESPONSE TO PROP. 8
Here is an article in the L.A. Times that expresses the venting of anger and frustration from the gay community and their allies in the aftermath of the passing of Proposition 8. Let’s hope that we can continue to harness that energy and that it doesn’t fizzle away! Jessica Garrison – Angrier Response to Prop. 8 Arises
SWEDEN TO ALLOW GAY MARRIAGE IN MAY, 2009
I suppose we should wait and see if Sweden is suddenly swallowed up into a crack in the earth, but in the meantime, read the article about the good news! Sweden to Allow Gay Marriage In May
GAY RIGHTS 2.0
This is a very interesting Newsweek web article which talks about the amazing grassroots response to the passing of Proposition 8…for better and for worse. For what it’s worth, ALLorNotAtAll believes that we can only succeed as an inter-generational effort; it’s important to learn from the people who have been doing this awhile, lest we continue to make the same mistakes. Again. Jessica Bennett on Gay Rights 2.0 – In The Aftermath of Proposition 8, young gays and lesbians have become grassroots, Web-based activists. But is this generation ready to lead?
OBAMA SITS DOWN WITH THE ADVOCATE
At the time, he was a candidate for the Presidency and he had received some flak for not sitting down with the GLBT press. He did finally sit down for a very extensive and very honest conversation with Kerry Eleveld. One of the things that makes Obama such a powerful force is that he manages to be both an idealist and a realist at the same time, and he isn’t foolish enough to make promises he may not be able to keep. Please read this article to see his down-to-earth views on the GLBT community and what he believes we will be able to accomplish.
MRS. KRAMER VS. MRS. KRAMER (aka MILLER VS. JENKINS)
So you thought that episode of “Eli Stone” was fiction where a lesbian couple separates and their unborn child gets locked in a custody battle between the one who has gone straight and found religion and the other one is still happily a lesbian? You’d be wrong. Here is the actual case, only the child in question isn’t unborn, she’s 6 years-old and caught in the middle of an interstate custody battle between her two moms. In case you were wondering why it was critical that same-sex couples had the same rights as hetero couples throughout the entire country, this Newsweek article is a perfect (and sad) example.   Lorraine Ali on Mrs. Kramer vs. Mrs. Kramer.
A NEWSWEEK EDITOR GETS MARRIED AND BECOMES AN ACTIVIST
This is an enjoyable article from Newsweek about how an editor’s wedding lit in him the activist fire. David J. Jefferson – How Getting Married Made Me An Activist.
GAY ADOPTIONS LEGAL IN FLORIDA
NOVEMBER 25, 2008 – Wonderful news! The 30 year old ban on gay adoption in the state of Florida was deemed unconstitutional. It’ll certainly end up in the Florida State Supreme Court, but this is a fantastic victory: Florida Ban on Gay Adoptions Ruled Unconstitutional
THE MARRYING KIND
Check out this transcript or listen to the audio from a very interesting conversation on NPR about the meaning of marriage and how it has changed throughout the last couple thousand years:Â Bob Garfield and E.J. Graff discuss the meaning of the word “marriage.”
THE MARRIAGE DEBATE
We are posting this blog partly because the author was kind enough to quote us and we were flattered. But it’s also just a damn good summary on most of the issues surrounding same-sex marriage! The Marriage Debate
