ALLorNotAtAll launches the “Educate Equality” Campaign…and we need your help!
The mission statement of ALLorNotAtAll declares that our main focus is a combination of education and outreach to inform people about the truths and benefits of civil same-sex marriage. One of the best ways to achieve this is a targeted, entertaining and educational campaign of high-quality Public Service Announcements using both well-known talent as well as “real people”…but we need your help.
We will highlight different issues which are central to the cause (i.e., the difference between civil marriage and religious marriage, survivor benefits, hospital visitation, etc.) and we will target a number of different communities, but the message of each spot will be simple and clear: same-sex marriage hurts nobody and helps many. Educating a broad spectrum of people about equal rights is why we are all here working together. Educate Equality.
HOW WILL WE DO IT?
Our intent is to produce these for as little hard cash as possible and to make beautifully-shot, top-notch spots almost entirely from donations of time, locations, materials and so on. ALLorNotAtAll has filed for status as an official non-profit organization, so all donations in the form of cash or time can be taken as a tax deduction.
As the “Educate Equality” Campaign continues, it will create enough momentum to start generating cash donations, but we hope to funnel almost all the cash into getting the PSA’s on the air in crucial markets at high-value times.
HOW CAN I HELP?
You tell us…how can you help? Or who do you know that could help? We need it all!
The Executive Producers for the “Educate Equality” Campaign’s Public Service Announcements will be Josh Einsohn, Founder of ALLorNotAtAll and Casting Director, and Tina Scorzafava, award-winning producer/director/writer. But they can’t do it alone.
From assistant directors to electricians to makeup & hair, we need skilled volunteers to help make these look professional and well-crafted. Additionally, we’ll need materials of every sort imaginable…from lights to craft service to locations.
For more information or to ask any questions, or to tell us how you can pitch in, please contact us at info@allornotatall.org.
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO START?
We want to go into Production on our first spots starting in mid-April and then continue to roll them out regularly after that. Depending on the availability of participants, we are able to be fairly flexible with our schedule.
WHY NOW?
On March 5, 2009, the California State Supreme Court is going to hear verbal arguments about the validity of Proposition 8. According to state law, a judgment will be rendered within ninety days. This means that by early June at the latest, we need to be ready to start rolling out our PSA’s. If Proposition 8 is overturned, same-sex marriage will be allowed again and the groups that claim to be interested in “protecting marriage” will try to force the California State Supreme Court Justices off the bench by recalling them. If Proposition 8 is upheld, we will pursue a new route to legalize same-sex marriage and will need to explain to people why discrimination against gay and lesbian couples is harmful to everyone.
This time, we will be ready!
THANK YOU FOR JOINING US IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
We hope the information here will help you to understand just how valuable your donation of time, money, or materials will be. This is how justice begins and how equality will be the rule of law for everyone.
Josh’s sister took his then-9 month old nephew, Harrison, to a rally in November. She said, “I didn’t want to have to explain why mommy could get married and Uncle Josh couldn’t. I didn’t want to have to explain why there was a chance to stand up and do something and I stayed home and did nothing.” So they braved the winter temperatures in Dallas and stood outside and cheered and chanted and clapped.

Don’t put yourself in a position where you have to explain to a loved one or friend or neighbor why it was that you had the chance to make a difference, however small, and you didn’t take it. Take advantage of that chance and join us…help us to Educate Equality.
We must and we will succeed!
